Abstract (AB):
This Physician Data Query (PDQ) statement provides information about a complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) treatment called 714-X, which is used for cancer. It gives general information about 714-X, including its chemical make-up, how the compound is administered, and its use as a CAM for cancer. The history of its discovery is traced and its possible mechanisms of action are described. The PDQ statement also provides details about results from a variety of studies of 714-X, including laboratory, animal, preclinical, and human/clinical studies. The adverse effects of 714-X are listed after the scientific evidence. The statement concludes with a ranking of the overall level of evidence for 714-X.
